PETER DARBY

‘He was born in the north of England and grew up in the Manchester area.

Peter’s Mum was a strong influence on his interest in music.  Elsie loved listening to Radio Caroline and Radio Luxembourg which played the best in popular music to a large British audience before the BBC saw the light.

Manchester’s vibrant club  scene beckoned and a young Peter became a D.J. and developed a keen interest in artists whose songs tell stories.

Artists like Jim Croce, Jonie Mitchell, Harry Chapin, Van Morrison, Joshua Kadison, and later John Williamson and Paul Kelly.

Peter completed Coast FM presenter training in mid-June and his first “Cruising through the night” went to air on Tuesday the first of July in the 3am to 6am time slot.

He jokes that Coast FM gave him a start in Adelaide Community Radio because nobody else would have him and he’s very appreciative of that.’
